Tamil Nadu has always been a land free from religious bias. A soil that fosters social harmony. A state that nurtures brotherhood. Any attempt to sow poison or discord here will not even sprout a drop. Our policy leaders, Father Periyar, a great social reformer, guardian of social justice, and pioneer who laid the foundation for reservation, devoted his entire life to various social welfare goals such as women’s education, women’s progress, and the abolition of caste inequalities. We strongly condemn the continuous efforts of the Union BJP government to confine Periyar within the narrow framework of atheism alone. We also affirm that attempts to belittle Periyar will never succeed on this land. The BJP has taken up the attempt to insult the compassionate scholar Anna publicly at the Madurai event.
Leader and scholar Anna dedicated his life to Tamil, Tamils, and Tamil Nadu. He made the guiding mantra “One caste one God” resonate for social harmony in this land. Attempts to defame the revered leaders Periyar and Anna, who still hold an irreplaceable place in the hearts of Tamil Nadu people, will yield no success. Tamil Nadu is a land renowned for social justice and brotherhood equality. Whatever form or guise BJP adopts for its divisive politics, the people of Tamil Nadu will defeat it. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam executive committee strongly condemns the BJP’s divisive politics.
The Madurai Bench of the High Court has expressed deep concern that 24 people have died during police investigations in the past four years. Under the current anti-people DMK government, the frequent deaths in police stations clearly reveal the negligent attitude of the rulers in power as the main cause. Recently, Ajith Kumar, a police constable from Madappuram Temple police station under Tiruppuvanam police limits in Sivagangai district, was brutally beaten to death by Tamil Nadu police personnel. Following this, the state Home Minister responded insincerely over the phone. Will he express such concern for the 24 people who died in police investigations over the last four years? His irresponsible and incompetent administration is causing innocent people and youth to become victims. This trend is strongly condemned.
The coalition parties in India that he belongs to strongly condemn both the Union government and the central intelligence agency CBI. Yet, distrusting the police department under his control, he is transferring cases to the CBI. Is it not a great shame to distrust a department under one’s own authority and hand over cases to an agency under the Union government? Where is the state autonomy that the DMK claims?
The Tamil Nadu Home Minister, unable to protect state autonomy and law and order, is pushing the trusting public into danger. He must publicly apologize to the people. The Home Minister, who lacks the ability to protect the people and rules with cruelty, must take moral responsibility for Tamil Nadu’s dire situation, seek public forgiveness, and resign from his post, the executive committee demands.
After announcing a caste survey, the Union BJP government’s claim that state governments need not conduct caste surveys is nothing but deception. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will never accept any survey lacking a clear view of the social, educational, and economic conditions of all community people under any circumstances. The Union BJP government’s political manipulation, which harms reservation policies under the guise of caste surveys, is also trying to create injustice in the representation of southern states through parliamentary constituency delimitation. Moreover, the plan for One Nation One Election threatens democracy itself. The executive committee of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam strongly condemns this authoritarian approach of the Union BJP government. The people of South India, especially Tamil Nadu, will give a strong response to this in the upcoming 2026 state assembly elections, warns the executive committee of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
In a democratic system, the ruling party and the opposition are equal regardless of who they are. However, the current ruling party, the fraudulent DMK, treats all opposition parties as enemies. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which commands massive popular support and people’s power, is especially feared and targeted. As a clear manifestation of this, the empty publicity model DMK government denies permission for public meetings, people’s gatherings, general events, and even private functions held on behalf of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. At the height of this abuse of power, the DMK government directs police action to attack and intimidate all responsible comrades from the district level to the wing committees and women’s wings who organize events on behalf of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and also files false cases to threaten them.
This conduct stems from their fear of defeat by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in the 2026 state assembly elections. As our Vettri leader has already stated, they may try to block anything, but they cannot stop nature or the massive popular revolution. The executive committee of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam strongly condemns the DMK government for its anti-democratic attitude and attempts to suppress Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
In 2014, the Indian Archaeological Department began excavations in Keeladi, Sivagangai district. Led by Mr. Amarnath Ramakrishna, the team concluded from the findings that an ancient urban civilization existed there. In January 2023, he submitted the first two-phase excavation report on Keeladi to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The 982-page report clearly explained the culture prevalent in Keeladi, the cultivated crops, animals, and the characteristics indicating an urban civilization, along with details of 5,765 archaeological artifacts. It also clarified that the Keeladi civilization dates back over 2600 years. However, the Union government delayed publishing this report for two years. In this context, the Union Archaeological Department ordered (June 17, 2025) the transfer of Mr. Amarnath Ramakrishna to Noida.
The Keeladi excavation results and the scientifically based report threaten the fabricated historical narratives repeatedly promoted by the BJP government. It proves that the Vaigai civilization predates the Indus Valley civilization. To suppress this truth, the Union BJP government is deliberately trying to keep the report under wraps. The government is attempting to bury our proud Tamil land, civilization, and culture under the dust of Hindi and Sanskrit imposition. This executive committee strongly condemns the Union BJP government’s covert efforts to hide the greatness of Keeladi.
The Election Commission of India has decided to conduct Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in states where elections are to be held. There is a strong suspicion that through this, the Union BJP government is attempting to reduce minority votes and increase vote banks favorable to itself, which goes against democracy.
If this suspicion is true, this executive committee strongly condemns such actions and urges that these anti-democratic activities must be stopped. Furthermore, the committee requests that every person who has reached the age of 18 and is eligible must be legally granted their full right to vote.
The bilingual policy of the great scholar Anna is the firm language policy of our Tamil Nadu. Our Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam firmly follows this policy. The statement by Union Minister Mr. Amit Shah that English speakers would feel ashamed is entirely ill-intentioned. It is a covert attack on Tamil Nadu’s bilingual policy. Tamil Nadu accepts English as the second language for global connectivity, yet the Union BJP government’s conspiracy to suppress India and Sanskrit as a third language is never acceptable to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
The bilingual policy followed in Tamil Nadu for over half a century will continue for the coming centuries as well. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s executive committee clearly affirms that this policy cannot be changed by the Union BJP or anyone else.
The fishermen of Tamil Nadu have been repeatedly asking when their struggles in life and livelihood will find relief. In the past year alone, 54 boats belonging to Ramanathapuram fishermen have been seized by Sri Lanka. In February, 14 fishermen who went fishing from Rameswaram were arrested by the Sri Lankan navy. One boat owner was fined ₹1.20 crore, another boat owner sentenced to one year imprisonment, and the remaining 12 fishermen fined ₹50,000 each. In protest, our fishermen went on a strike.
The Sri Lankan government, which has already been acting beyond limits against our fishermen, now arrests Tamil Nadu fishermen monthly and yearly, accusing them of crossing the border to fish. Our fishermen’s question of how basic livelihood can be a crime is entirely justified.
To stop the oppressive actions of the Sri Lankan government using harsh regulations, both the state and central governments must take action. As our leader has emphasized in his statement, as an interim solution, India should demand the lease return of our lost Kachchatheevu island. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam strongly urges this course of action.
During deadly pandemics like Covid-19, doctors and nurses served with dedication, separating from their families and risking their lives to protect the people. At that time, the current Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin, then the opposition leader, personally met government doctors and promised to resolve issues related to their salaries and fulfill their demands. However, after coming to power, as usual, all demands have been ignored, including those of the government doctors. The government doctors’ association has stated that Tamil Nadu is the only state in India where doctors are forced to continue fighting for their salaries. They have demanded an increase in government medical posts and new appointments for those positions. This demand has also been ignored. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam strongly urges that the rulers fulfill the doctors’ demands, who perform the noble service of saving lives, as promised.
The JACTO JEO organization, composed of government employees and teachers who are the backbone of the government machinery, has been protesting for a long time, demanding the reinstatement of the old pension scheme along with several other demands. Those who were previously in power abandoned them. At that time, to come to power, the deceitful DMK government promised to fulfill JACTO JEO’s demands, won their votes, and after coming to power callously betrayed them. There is no difference between those previously in power and those in power now. Both have deceived government employees and teachers. The publicity-driven DMK government, which only cares about the welfare of the ruling family, does not consider the welfare of Tamil Nadu’s people or government employees and teachers important. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam sees the JACTO JEO struggle as a fight for the welfare of lakhs of families. As our vettri leader recently told the teachers’ union who met him, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam wholeheartedly extends its full support to the government employees’ and teachers’ struggle, a stance reaffirmed by the Kazhagam’s executive committee.
